Redistribution in Practice

THE NEST FUND

Nest and Bone Psychotherapy is grounded in the belief that care should not reproduce the inequities that create harm.

The Nest Fund is a redistribution model designed to increase access to therapy for people who face financial and systemic barriers to care. Rather than relying on ad hoc sliding scales or individual exceptions, the Fund operates as a structured, collective system of support.

The Nest Fund connects my public-facing work through Polyamorous Black Girl with my clinical practice at Nest and Bone. Public education, workshops, and community learning help sustain the conditions that make accessible therapy possible. Together, they form a shared ecosystem of care: what is built publicly helps support what happens privately.

How the Fund Works

  • A portion of every therapy session fee is set aside to support the Nest Fund

  • Some clients choose a Contributor Rate, which expands the number of supported and free sessions available

  • Supported and free sessions are offered seasonally, based on available funds

All sessions—standard, supported, or free—are identical in structure, time, and quality of care. The only difference is how the session is funded..

Access & Priority

The Nest Fund is intended to support people who face systemic barriers to accessing mental health care, including but not limited to:

  • Black, Indigenous, and racialized clients

  • Queer, trans, and non-binary people

  • Survivors of gender-based violence

  • Disabled and low-income clients

  • People navigating structural exclusion from traditional mental health system

Priority does not guarantee availability. Access depends on fund capacity and timing.

If you would like to be considered for a supported or free space, you may indicate this in your consultation request. No explanation is required.

The Nest Fund is sustained through a web of collective support, including therapy clients, readers, workshop participants, and community members.

Ways to contribute include:

Financial Contributions

  • one time or recurring which go directly to client care.

Contributor Therapy Sessions

  • If you’re an active client, you can choose the Contributor Rate ($200/session) Each contributor sessions directly funds one supported or free appointment in the following season.

Engagement with Polyamorous Black Girl

  • If you follow my educational work — on Substack, Patreon, or social media — subscribing, sharing, or commissioning collaborations also helps maintain this ecosystem. That public work generates the financial and relational scaffolding that allows therapy to remain accessible.

Workshops, talks and community learning spaces

  • Workshops and community learning spaces offered through Polyamorous Black Girl also help sustain the Fund. A portion of each ticket or honorarium contributes to the redistribution model.

Transparency & Sustainability

Twice a year, I will share a brief public summary of how the Nest Fund circulates, including:

  • the number of supported sessions offered

  • the general flow of funds

  • patterns in access and demand

Sustainability, in this context, means care that does not rely on personal depletion. The Nest Fund is designed as a circulating structure rather than a personal gesture, so that accessibility and financial stability can coexist over time.
